Pierre Gasly followed suit after losing grip on the slippery white-painted lines, taking a trip through both the gravel and grass. Lance Stroll, however, disproved that this was true for everyone, running off into the gravel after avoiding a slow-moving and being unable to bring his Aston Martin off-line.
Sainz was the first to record a true time of 1:26.155 on the intermediate tyre, however, Max Verstappen unsurprisingly set the fastest time on said tyre with a 1:24.1.ĭespite the rain continuing to fall, the likes of George Russell and Alex Albon both reported of the track feeling quite dry across the lap. With all but one Alfa Romeo running the soft compound for the qualifying runs of FP3, the cars queued in the pit lane before being unleashed onto a track threatened by the lightning and thunder in the neighbouring mountains. With an 80% chance of rain looming over the final practice session around the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, cars rushed out onto the track to make the most of the short-lived dry running. Despite rain halting much of FP3’s running, Max Verstappen managed to finish the session with the fastest time ahead Sergio Perez and Lewis Hamilton, with Qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix just around the corner.
